Psycho-Pass Review

I watched Psycho-Pass around Holy Week and I just had the time to review the anime. The anime deserved a review from me because it gave me a big impact.

The story of Psycho-Pass is set in a near distant future where choices and decisions are governed by a system called the Sibyl System. The Sibyl System is an almost perfect system that can quantify a person’s overall mental status and ability (meaning, the Sibyl System can determine your skills and it will decide which appropriate career or choices you should make) and the standard measurement is called Psycho-Pass. The story revolves around Unit One of the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division that uses a gun called dominator which is powered by the Sibyl System thus it can determine a person’s crime coefficient (the number that determines if an individual is going to commit or has committed a crime through Psycho-Pass). The dominator is automatically set to fire an appropriate action (non-lethal or lethal paralyze) to the target person depending on the target’s crime coefficient. As the story progresses, the police team encountered tricky murder cases and discovered more about Sibyl System.

The overall anime was really good. From character designs, story, even the soundtracks were good (one of the reasons why I watched the anime is because EGOIST performed their two ending songs ^^). I wanted more moments of Kougami-san and Tsunemori-san but yeah, the genre didn’t include romance (I’m such a hopeless romantic LOL). I’m not sure why but I can tolerate genres that show psycho killing and the like.

Now what really marked the anime to me is the idea of Sibyl System. As a programmer, I can say that there is a very high possibility that the system can be created. I was extremely disturbed by the idea. After I watched Psycho-Pass, it haunted me on my sleep and the next day at work, I was thinking about Pyscho Pass the whole day. I was even thinking if my Psycho-Pass was measured that day, it could have been clouded (means you are feeling unstable). But as I ponder about the story, I realized one thing; that I am very lucky to live in the current world where I can make my own choices and decisions.

I was glad I watched this anime. It somehow opened up a part of my life, that I should be thankful of what I have and the opportunities I was given.

I'm rooting for a second season for Psycho-Pass. I've read a lot of positive feedback from fans. Great job to everyone who worked with the anime!
